Apana vayu mudra

Apana Vayu mudra is a combination of  Apana Mudra and  Vayu Mudra.
Apana Vayu Mudra is also known as mritha sanjeevani Mudra.
Sanjeevani (or Sanjivani) is a Sanskrit word (Old-Indian language) and is translated mostly directly as the „immortal“, „the infinite life“ or as „life giving“.
A mudra, which can snatch a person away from the clutches of death! Indeed, this mudra has tremendously benefited a person who has suffered from chest-pain (angina pectoris) or a heart attack.
It increases, the earth element (and therefore the Kapha humor) while decreasing the air and fire elements within the body.

How to perform this mudra
The tips of the middle finger and ring finger touch the tip of thumb, while the index finger touches the base of thumb and little finger stretched out.

Effects:
This mudra bestows triple benefits:
1. Removal of obstructions/blockages in, and detoxification of, the body to allow an increase of element Aakaash (space),
2. Increase of vitality due to an increase of element Prithvi (earth) and
3. Sedation of the mind and relaxation of the body/muscles due to a reduction of elements Vaayu (air).

Benefits:
Apaan-vaayu mudra can be used to overcome the following disorders:
It benefits the heart. It relieves even at the time of the heart attack.
It reduces the gas content in the body.
If done regularly for 45 minutes daily in three stretches of 15 minutes each in morning, afternoon and evening, it is capable of solving many problems of heart disease. When the air element increases in the body, it causes constriction of heart arteries; they become hard and narrow. Doing this Mudra will relieve arteriosclerosis’ of the heart, and thus strengthens the heart muscles and remove blockages in arteries.
Angina pectoris (chest pain caused by blockages within the coronary arteries that nourish the heart),
The performance of this Mudra as soon as heart attack strikes might enable the victim to minimize damage to the heart-muscle.
It normalizes blood pressure and thus saves us from both high as well as low blood pressure, as it stimulates the circulatory system.
Relieving acidity, gas formation, eructation, belching, and strengthens the digestive system. It solves all diseases of the intestines, colic, colitis, etc.;
In case of palpitations or weak pulse, this Mudra will normalize the pulse rate immediately.
